These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Chessie Puzzle mobile application ("the App") and related services. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Chessie Puzzle is a comprehensive chess puzzle training application that provides the following core features:

  • Endgame Puzzles: Solve thousands of curated endgame puzzles organized by theme and difficulty. Track your solving accuracy and rating progress.
  • Multiple Training Modes: Practice with Puzzle Storm, Time Attack, Streak mode, and daily challenges. Each mode targets different skills from quick pattern recognition to deep calculation.
  • AI-Powered Analysis: Get instant AI-powered analysis of each position. Our engine evaluates your moves, suggests improvements, and provides detailed explanations.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor your ELO rating, solve rates, and performance across different endgame categories. Track improvement over time.
  • Daily Challenges: Solve daily puzzle challenges and maintain your streak. Compete against your personal best scores.

2. Eligibility

By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 13, you may not use the App. The App is not intended for users under 13 without parental consent and supervision.

3. User Accounts

Chessie Puzzle offers optional Google or Discord sign-in via Supabase for cross-device data sync. You may also use the App anonymously without signing in. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials and device.

4. In-App Purchases

4.1 Chessie Puzzle Premium

The App offers a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase called "Chessie Puzzle Premium" that provides access to premium features including unlimited puzzles, advanced engine analysis, and detailed statistics. The purchase is processed through Google Play Billing and is subject to Google's terms and conditions.

4.2 No Refunds

All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law or as otherwise determined by Google Play's refund policies.

4.3 Discount Codes

From time to time, we may offer discount codes for the unlock purchase. These codes are subject to specific terms and expiration dates and may be revoked if obtained through unauthorized means.

5. AI Analysis Features

5.1 AI Analysis

The App uses artificial intelligence to analyze chess positions and provide move suggestions. Results are for educational purposes only and should not be considered guaranteed winning moves. Chess outcomes depend on many factors and analysis should not be considered guaranteed.

5.2 Token Limits

AI analysis for non-premium users is subject to daily limits:

  • Free users: 50 puzzle analyses per day
  • Premium users (one-time purchase): unlimited puzzle analyses

Users may also bypass limits entirely by providing their own Gemini API key in the Profile settings.

5.3 Disclaimer

AI-generated move analysis and evaluations are provided for educational and entertainment purposes only. Chess outcomes depend on many factors and AI suggestions should not be considered guaranteed winning moves.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Not attempt to circumvent puzzle access limits or purchase verification
  • Not reverse-engineer, modify, or create derivative works of the App
  • Not use the App for any unlawful or prohibited purpose
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your device and any API keys you configure

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including all code, design, graphics, text, and functionality, is owned by Chessie Puzzle and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including but not limited to:

  • Google (OAuth sign-in provider)
  • Discord (OAuth sign-in provider)
  • Google Play Billing (purchase processing)
  • Supabase (backend infrastructure and authentication)
  • chess-api.com (server-side engine analysis)

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or functionality of these third-party services. Your use of these services may be subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

CHESS ANALYSIS AND MOVE SUGGESTIONS PROVIDED BY THE APP ARE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THE APP DOES NOT GUARANTEE SPECIFIC OUTCOMES IN REAL GAMES OR TOURNAMENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CHESSIE PUZZLE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR PERSONAL INJURY.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. You can delete all locally stored data via the "Clear All Data" option in the Profile screen. To permanently delete your account (including synced cloud data), use the "Delete Account" option in Profile settings or refer to our Delete Account page. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
